In a small group, we explore the unknown landscape of grief. As we begin the practice of welcoming our grief, we will be guided into those places within ourselves which are calling for attention, healing and transformation. Living our grief allows us to live the full love and truth of who we are, within ourselves and in all of our relationships.

    $25 per week
    Limited to 6 - 10 participants

    Grief Journey

This is the long journey toward welcoming the many griefs of our life. In doing so, we welcome home all of who we are. Opening to the power of grief allows us to experience a sense of peace and liberation within, as well as experience a unity with life.

Dialogue, writing, poetry, art, movement, sound, and ritual are portals through which we will explore our grief.

Groups are ongoing and are offered in the morning, afternoon and evening. Please let us know which time you prefer. We meet weekly and each session is 2 hours. Groups meet in 4 week series, and a minimum commitment of 12 weeks is required.

$500 per 4 wks; includes one individual session as well as ongoing care via email and text.

    Teen Grief Circle
Parents: One-time registration required for your teen. Teens are then welcome to drop-in on the weeks they’re available.

    Wednesdays 3 to 4:pm (ongoing)
$25 per week; minimum 4 wk commitment required.

Snacks, activities, and conversation about how to welcome and shift the daily griefs of living. Our peer support model allows teens to recognize that grief is normal and healthy, which establishes a center of wellbeing — no matter life’s challenges.

We recommend regular one-on-one sessions with parents.

    Sign-Up: info@livingundone.org.

  • Community grief circles meet in-person from 6 to 7:30pm the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month.

A meditation opens the space and syncs our hearts, and, in sacred community, we quietly witness those who feel called to share. Community circles are drop-in and open to anyone in the community.

If possible, but not required, please support our organization via a donation at the door. Everyone is welcome. We meet at our downtown cottage: 33 NW Louisiana Ave, Bend OR.

  • *Parents are welcome to sign-up their teens at any time. A one-time registration is required.

    Teens: Wednesdays 3:00 - 4::00pm

$25 per week; minimum 4 wk commitment required.

Grief takes many forms and is not death-specific. This group empowers teens to create a healthy relationship with the challenges of living, allowing the family as a whole to both heal and thrive.

  • Workplaces are communities. The wellbeing of the individual and the workplace inform each other. Naturally, challenges arise within every person as well as a workplace, whether a death has happened or the everyday griefs of living. How those challenges are consistently welcomed, held and transformed is reflected in the relationship of the employees as well as the company as a whole. The more open, fluid and receptive a person is within themselves, the more they are able to be so with the people with whom they share their daily work lives. The fluidity of an individual allows for the dynamic living of a workplace and its creative longevity.

Grief counseling is available for limited durations or for ongoing workplace care.

We conduct sessions onsite at your business as well via the phone and in-person at our cottage in downtown Bend.

who we are

Living Undone is a nonprofit which has provided grief support to the Central Oregon community and beyond for over 15 years.

Originally founded as Good Grief Guidance by Darlene Gertsch as a response to her son’s death, it has expanded over the years from a single 16-week program for adults to ongoing support in therapeutic boarding schools and prisons, as well as providing numerous groups, classes, workshops, and individual sessions for grieving teens, adults, and businesses across the nation.

Living Undone is unique in that it supports not only death-specific grief, but grief of all kinds.

Grief includes changes in relationship with ourself and others. Again and again, we grieve when life asks us to live our love differently. Examples of grief include death, divorce, illness, addiction, anxiety, depression, conflict, financial loss, aging, loneliness, feelings of unworthiness, and abandonment. Increasingly, societal and environmental grief has our attention as individuals as well as a larger community.

Grief is love’s way of getting our attention — that our love has become stuck or rigid in how we are relating to ourself or others. Grief is a reminder that we are to live undone so that we may stay open and fluid to how love is calling us to live in relationship to ourselves, each other, the world, the earth, and life itself.

Understanding that we all experience both the joys and sorrows of loving throughout our lives, we envision being fully funded through donations so that everyone in need of grief care is able to receive it free of payment. To this end, we continue to expand our scholarship program. Please let us know if you are interested in sponsoring or in need of sponsorship. Training facilitators and grief mentors is also central to our vision so that this paradigm of grief care is available worldwide.
